Hub 1's Special Visitor!

Today in Hub 1 we had a special visitor -A Forensic Scientist!

Ryan, Mrs England's Husband, came into our learning space to share what he does for a job and to talk to us all about Science.

We learnt about DNA and how it is unique to us (everyone has their own set). We also learned that we leave it behind when we touch things. Ryan also talked about finger prints and we found out that EVERY person has 10 different finger prints, they are never the same!

Hub 1 had a lot of fun dressing up into the gear Forensic Scientists wear out at crime scenes, and what they wear in the labs. Here is a photo of the different gear Forensic Scientists wear.

A Special Visitor

On Friday Poppy, Mrs England's dog came to visit.
The children loved spending the day with her.

After a little bit of time talking about dog safety, the children began to be more comfortable around Poppy and loved every minute they spent with her. For our film, for the Film festival we are creating a movie around dog safety. Poppy will be in the film.

Instant Volcano Eruption!

Today a Volcano Erupted in our Hub! Not a real Volcano, a Science Experiment Volcano.

Hub 1 had our Writing Provocation today where we made a Volcano.

We made our Volcano out of:
Baking Soda, Vinegar, Paper Cups, Plates, Red Food Colouring and a bowl.

When we put the Vinegar on top of the Baking Soda it erupted. The liquid in the jar rose up and flowed down like a red waterfall from the top of the jar. It was very strong, and nearly pushed the cup off the jar.

We then went away and had time to write down our thoughts and feelings about the experiment.

Here are some photos of our fun and exciting experience:
